Creative Problem-solvers

  • Our purpose is to prepare our students for college and career challenging them intellectually and developing them into creative problem-solvers. We strive to do this by providing quality instruction for our students and providing them with opportunities to dual enroll through the Griffin Region College and Career Academy.   We are excited to announce that we are also providing students with iGAIN during the day to ensure that instructional needs are met.

  • Book Drive

    Vivian Hart, Kathy Zellner, Karen Merrick - Media Specialists

    We Want Books!

    Pike County High, Middle, and Elementary school libraries are hosting a community book drive. We want gently used books for classroom libraries. If you would like to donate a book please drop off or send the book to any of the school’s libraries. The Media Specialist will sort the books and get them to the correct grade level. Our book drive will run from February 10, 2017 through March 10, 2017. We are so excited about this opportunity to expand our selection of quality and engaging literature. Please help us provide good books for our classrooms.

    After school credit recovery will begin Monday, February 6th and will run through April 13. The sessions will be held in room 217 Monday through Thursday from 3:45 until 5:00PM. The cost is $50. Students can pick up a registration form in the counselor's office.

  • Financial Aid Night

    Financial Aid Night will be Tuesday, Feb. 7th @ 6:30pm at the high school. We will have a respresentative here from Georgia Student Finace Commision to discuss the HOPE Scholarship and other financial aid opportunities for college. All seniors, juniors, and their parents or guardians are encourage to attend.

  • Student/Parent Information night for Griffin Region College and Career Academy

    Information night will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at 6:30pm. The location is at Southern Crescent Technology College Event Center Building 200. Who should attend? All students interested in attending the GRCCAcademy next school year, 2017-2018, and parents/guardians of students.

  • ASVAB Test

    Attention 10th through 12th graders - sign up today to take the ASVAB. It's not just for students interested in the military...the ASVAB assesses academic ability and predicts success in a wide variety of occupations. The ASVAB will be administered here on Thursday, Feb. 16th. Please sign up in the couseling office no later than Monday, Feb. 13th. Students must be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade.

    • Scholarship deadlines are rapidly approaching.  Stop by the counseling department weekly for updates and applications. 
    • Check with your Senior English teacher for your transcript.  Please review your transcript and notify your counselor if you have any questions regarding your transcript.

    The deadline to be accepted into post-secondary institutions for dual enrollment is May 1.  You must apply to the institution and take the appropriate entrance exam (ACT, SAT, ACCUPLACER).   Deadlines for entrance tests are rapidly approaching.   Visit ACTSTUDENT.ORG or SAT.ORG for testing dates and locations.  Please be aware of deadline dates, as students will not be permitted to dual enroll beyond deadline.

    PROM is April 1st at the Georgia International Convention Center.  Signups begin February 8th.  The last day to sign up is February 16.  Cost is $85 per person.  Late fee of $25 per person will apply after February 16.  See Mrs. Carla in the front office to purchase tickets.
