College & Career Academy
The Pike County School District believes all students benefit from a rigorous learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration. Choice and flexibility is a fundamental supporting principle. To this end, Pike County has developed strong partnership with all regional post-secondary institutes as well as neighboring school districts to establish the Griffin-Region College and Career Academy. The Griffin-Region College Career Academy is a unique opportunity for students to gain college credits and/or obtain industry specific skills so each student may achieve their college and/or career goals.
The courses in this pathway make up the Freshman Core for most colleges and universities. Through an agreement with the University System of Georgia (USG), the courses are fully transferrable to any school that is part of the USG. There is also an agreement with the private colleges in Georgia. A student can get a head start on college while still meeting high school academic requirements.
It is no secret that Georgia is the new Hollywood! This pathway focuses on careers in film production that support film projects from beginning to end, whether a major motion picture, television series, or smaller film projects. Expose students to the final phase of the production process cycle.
