Ms. Sheryl Watts

Sheryl Watts has been an educator for twenty-seven years. After graduating from Georgia Southern University in 1991, she began teaching Spanish at Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia and remained there until 1996. In 1996, she began teaching at Pike County High School. She earned an Educational Leadership degree from Columbus State University in 1999. She was named Pike County High School Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year in 2005. In 2006, she left teaching to pursue an Assistant Principal position at Pike County Elementary School and remained for three years. In 2009, she was transferred to Pike County High School as an Assistant Principal before she was named the role of Principal at Pike County Primary School in 2010-2017. In 2017, she became Principal of Ninth Grade Academy. Two years later she was also asked to lead Zebulon High School and PCAP.

Sheryl has one son, Landon, who was born in 2000. He graduated Pike County High School in 2018 and is a student at the University of Georgia.

As an educator in Pike County, Sheryl has always focused on student achievement and supporting educators. Through a district partnership with The Center for Authentic Intellectual Work, she has become a certified coach to support teachers as they participate in professional development. This work allows teachers to work collaboratively to make learning a more meaningful experience for students.
