Eleven high schools from around the state and southeast came to Pike County High School to participate in the inaugural “March the Plank Invitational." These groups performed their marching show for judges and received ratings and scores in various categories. Trophies were dispersed, and winners in each classification announced, along with a Grand Champion.
Along with theeleven participating bands, the Pike County Pirate Regiment, as well as the Point University Marching Skyhawks, performed as an exhibition. The event was a huge success and brought further notoriety to the high school and to their program. Pike County High paid tribute to Dylan Thomas, where the regiment formed #32 (Dylan's jersey number) on the field and released balloons at the end of their exhibition performance.
