PCMS Math Team Wins First at Griffin RESA Math Contest
On January 31, 2019, Pike County Middle School's math team competed in a math competition at Griffin RESA. Teams from 28 different middle schools competed against each other in this contest. Each team was divided into divisions based on school population, PCMS being placed in division one. All students individually took a 50 question multiple choice math test. One hour was allowed for this written portion of the competition. In the second part of the competition, teams worked together to answer 20 problems in the ciphering round. Points were earned based on how fast the team was able to correctly answer the problems without the use of a calculator. The faster the team turned in correct answers, the more points they earned. PCMS brought home first place in their division.
