Pike County Middle School students will take the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade Tests (EOG) April 12 – May 7. The EOGs are state-mandated tests. The Georgia Milestones Assessment System is designed to provide information about how well students are mastering the state-adopted content standards in the core content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Eighth grade students enrolled in high school credit classes will take the End-of-Course Tests (EOC) during the same testing window in the afternoon testing sessions. These measures serve as the final exam for the course, and contribute 20% to the student’s final course grade.
Georgia Milestones is designed to provide students with critical information about their own achievement and their readiness for their next level of learning – be it the next grade, the next course, or endeavor (college or career).
Remediation and Retesting
Eighth grade students who do not meet the required performance guidelines in English Language Arts and Math will be provided remediation and an opportunity to retest. Students will not be compared to their peers as in norm-referenced testing, but will be measured on how well they are meeting academic standards.
The testing calendar is designed to minimize disruption of students' schedules. All tests will be online this year, so it is imperative that students attend their testing session on the assigned date and time!
Reminders for Parents
- Test takers will not be able to check out during their Milestones tests.
- Please schedule appointments before or after school, if at all possible.
